Ram V.Sutar is the statue's designer, the making of which started on 31st October 2013. The figure is made from steel framing, bronze cladding, brass coating, and other materials.   The Narmada tent city is a small village located on the banks of the Narmada River in India. It is home to around 400 families who live in tents made of cloth and plastic. The village has no electricity or running water, and the only source of income for residents is fishing.   The tent city was established in 2006 when the Indian government began construction on the Sardar Sarovar Dam, which will displace thousands of people when it is completed. Since then, the village has been slowly deteriorating as its residents have been unable to find work or afford necessities.   In April 2018, the Indian government announced that it would demolish the Narmada tent city to make way for a new highway.
